U.S.
BANK 2006 GALENA PARADE OF HOMES
SHOWCASES 14 LUXURY HOMES
October 14/15 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00
p.m.
GALENA, Il. Sept. 20, 2006
-- U.S. Bank’s fourth annual Parade of Homes, which will
be held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 14 and Sunday, October 15, showcases a
kaleidoscope of creativity in 14 custom-built, luxury
homes, which range in size from a cozy country 2,000
square-foot cottage to a 6,124 square-foot entertainer’s
dream home.
Parade-goers can preview
the area’s best builders, landscapers and interior
designers while getting a glimpse of technology trends
in the new homes located in Menomonie, Galena and the
Galena Territory. Ticket proceeds from the event
benefit three local charities: Habitat for Humanity of
Jo Daviess County, Choices and the Riverview Center.
Some of the features found
in this year’s Galena parade include:
• Rooms with a
View – many of the beautifully designed homes soak up
the glorious Galena scenery with full-length windows
that stretch through expansive rooms and up cathedral
ceilings. Full decks and screened-in porches, several
with custom railings and trim work, are the perfect
touch for entertaining or just relaxing.
• Creature
Comforts -- Luxurious hot tubs, both indoors and out,
electric in-floor bathroom heating, and a home office
that has custom built-in cabinets with a “secret
bookshelf”—soon to be featured on HGTV – that turns to
show a 42” plasma screen TV.
• Gourmet
Kitchens -- complete with built-in stainless steel
appliances, granite countertops walk-in wine cellars and
a handy, built-in computer desk area for bill paying or
net surfing.
• Strikingly
spacious great rooms -- with stone-front fireplaces and
entertainment centers complete with flat-screen TVs and
surround sound, pub-height bar and mini kitchen, and
game area with air hockey table and custom-painted wall
mural.
• Monster Garage
– For car lovers, a three-stall, 40.6’ x 26’ garage
pampers prized possessions as it is lavishly finished
and custom trimmed in ash and cherry and features
built-in cabinets and hot water.
B’Ann Dittmar, U.S.
Bank Galena market president, said, “Whether your ‘home
away from home’ or your next full-time home, this tour
promises to inspire with new trends in home building and
decorating. Our goal is to show how slight twists and
turns can produce dramatic results, and how many
different elements work in harmony to create something
amazingly beautiful.”
She added that, new this
year by request, is a gourmet box lunch by Cindy’s
Classic Catering available for parade goers at tour home
#7, located at 39 Stony Point Road. Profits from the
$10 lunch will go to local charities.
Dittmar said that
U.S. Bank Galena employees spend about eight months each
year coordinating the many volunteers, sponsors and
builders to create a meaningful tour while raising funds
for local organizations that serve a critical role in
the community. “We’re thrilled with how it has grown
due to the enthusiasm of parade-goers who travel from
near and far. Our volunteers will especially enjoy a
new Seek and Find game we've added this year that gives
people a chance to qualify for our $250 U.S. savings
bond drawing if they make it to all of the homes on the
tour and locate a special mystery element in selected
tour home rooms.”

for $8 and free copies of the U.S. Bank Parade of Homes
guides, including detailed maps, will be available
