U.S. BANK GALENA PARADE
OF HOMES
NETS $14,000 FOR LOCAL
ORGANIZATIONS
Galena, IL.,
October xx, 2005 – Habitat for Humanity of Jo Daviess
County,
CHOICES for Family Peace and Justice and
Riverview Center will all
benefit from the $14,000
raised from U.S. Bank’s recent Galena Parade of
Homes.
Crisp fall weather and colorful leaves provided the
perfect backdrop
for Galena’s fourth annual new home
tour held October 14th and 15th.
More than
1,500 people toured
14 custom-built, luxury homes in the
Parade,
which ranged in size from a cozy country 2,000
square-foot cottage to a
6,124 square-foot entertainer’s
dream home.
B’Ann Dittmar, U.S. Bank Galena market
president, said, "The
success of the event continues to exceed our goals on
all levels. We continue to break our annual attendance
record, and thanks to Wal-Mart’s grant of $1,500, raised
our highest annual proceeds yet. This year’s theme,
‘Kaleidoscope of Creativity’ gave people a chance
to preview innovative work from our local builders and
sponsors while assisting very deserving local
charities.”
Dittmar noted that approximately $46,500
has been raised during the past four years from the
annual home parade. This year, Habitat will receive
half of the Parade proceeds, with the rest divided among
CHOICES for Family Peace and Justice and Riverview
Center.
Stacey Elliott, executive director of
Habitat for Humanity of Jo Daviess County, said, “The
check is coming in at the perfect time and will be
crucial to completing our fourth home in Galena and our
fifth home in the Hanover area.”
Betsy Eaton, executive director of the
Galena/Jo Daviess County Convention and Visitor's
Bureau, said, “People think about Galena’s majestic old
homes, but U.S. Bank’s Parade showcases the great
expansion of new homes in our area with clever layouts
and features, wonderful architectural detail and quality
workmanship. The tour peaked the interest of
participants of all ages, from both near and far.”
Builders also were pleased with the
turnout for the event. “This event completely exceeded
my expectations,” said Bill Miller, co-owner of Galena
Hillside Homes and builder of 39 Stony Point in the
Galena Territory, the largest home on the tour. “Jim
and Linda Lynn were gracious to open their beautiful new
home as well as host the lunch-time designation for
visitors to purchase a gourmet box lunch for parade
goers. We had non-stop visitors who marveled at the
home’s design and décor”.
Dittmar thanked the great collaboration
of more than 65 volunteers, which included employees of
U.S. Bank and the various charitable organizations,
working to sell tickets and staff the homes for the
Parade. She also noted that this year’s addition of the
gourmet
box lunch by Cindy’s Classic Catering was an added
convenience for Parade-goers and helped to secure
additional funds for local charities.
Dittmar added that
Julie Stienstra of Galena, IL
won a $250 savings bond and Jeanette Wienen of
Galena, IL won a $100 savings bond from U.S. Bank as
part of a seek and find contest drawing for Parade
participants who toured the homes and located particular
design elements within the homes.
Plans are already underway for the fifth
annual event, which will be held the weekend after
Columbus Day, Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October
14th, 2007, from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. on both days. For
